A Personal Care Assistant (PCA) helps individuals with activities of daily living and provides support for personal care. The specific responsibilities can vary depending on the needs of the client, but generally include:
- **Personal Hygiene Assistance**: Helping clients with bathing, grooming, oral care, and dressing.
- **Mobility Support**: Assisting clients with moving around, including transfers between bed and wheelchair, and helping with walking.
- **Medication Management**: Reminding clients to take medications or assisting with medication administration as directed by healthcare providers.
- **Meal Preparation**: Preparing and serving meals, adhering to any dietary restrictions or preferences.
- **Household Tasks**: Performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping.
- **Companionship**: Providing emotional support and companionship to help clients maintain a positive outlook.
- **Health Monitoring**: Observing and reporting changes in the client's condition, including any unusual symptoms or behaviors.
- **Communication**: Coordinating with family members, healthcare professionals, and other caregivers to ensure the client's needs are met.
- **Safety**: Ensuring the client's environment is safe and free from hazards, and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents.
