A Safety Officer in a factory is responsible for ensuring that the workplace is safe and complies with all relevant health and safety regulations. Here is a detailed job profile for a Safety Officer in a factory:
Key Responsibilities
- **Risk Assessment and Management**:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
- Maintain records of risk assessments and safety procedures.
- **Safety Inspections**:
- Perform routine safety inspections of the facility.
- Ensure all safety equipment is functional and available.
- Identify unsafe conditions and practices organization.
- **Accident Investigation**:
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Maintain records of accidents, near misses, and corrective actions taken.
- **Emergency Preparedness**:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct regular emergency drills and training.
- Ensure all employees know emergency procedures.
- **Health and Safety Programs**:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of these programs and make improvements.
- Collaborate with management to integrate safety into all aspects of operations
Skills and Qualifications
- **Educational Background**: Degree in Occupational Health and Safety,industrial hygiene, or related field.
- **Certifications**:Diploma in Industrial Safety, Certified Trainer of First Aid and CPR**:
- **Experience**: Prior experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- **Experience: 2 years**:
- **Knowledge**: In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- **Skills**: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- **Attention to Detail**: Ability to identify potential hazards and implement effective solutions.

The role of a Safety Officer is critical in ensuring that the factory operates safely and efficiently, minimizing risks to employees and the organization.
**Monitor the activities and ensure to discussing the proper TRA &TBT before start the job.**
❖ Daily collects the site observations & discussing in Behaviour Based Safety Meeting **(BBS).**
❖ Minimizes the hazards by immediate action, follow up and proper implementation various department.
❖ Provide professional expert guidance, and effective supervision on fire & safety and emergency response intervention Team in all fire watch activities.
❖ Regular training to employees, contractors, office staff. For safe practice & safety
enhancement.
❖ Preparing & monitoring inspection checklist of EOT crane, Air compressor, housekeeping, MHE (Forklift).
❖ Every month inspected and records of the Life Saving Appliances installed at site.
❖ Emergency mock drill & Fire hydrant system testing on regular basis.
❖ Maintain the records of Inspection of fire extinguishers, fire Hydrant System.
❖ Maintaining EHS Documents EHS records.
❖ Every week inspected the Health & Hygiene of accommodation area.
❖ Participate & Co-ordinate the Monthly Safety Meeting.
❖ Assists and advises supervisors and workers with regards to safety related issues.
❖ Maintain accident, incident, near miss reports.
❖ Investigate safety violations and follow up ensuring corrective actions are developed and implemented to prevent re-occurrence.
❖ Monitors activities where incidents could have occurred, halting any operations or activities that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment.
❖ Develops and delivers monthly safety meetings; records all safety associated documentation; assists in hazard assessments and job hazard analysis.
❖ Guides and assists company personnel with critical health and safety incidents and health problems.
❖ To provide Safety Induction & Training to new recruits before they are allowed to work on the project.
❖ Visitor’s Site Safety Briefing to brief every visitor to the project about site hazards & precautions to be taken to visit the site for project work.
❖ Instituting award /incentive scheme for good safety performance & to recommend the names for the award.
