Job Title:
Senior Chef - Hot Kitchen
Job Role Summary:
The Senior Chef in the hot kitchen oversees all aspects of hot food preparation, ensuring high-quality dishes are delivered consistently and efficiently. This role includes managing kitchen staff, supervising cooking processes, maintaining hygiene standards, and contributing to menu development. The Senior Chef works closely with the Head Chef or Executive Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of hot dishes, sauces, and accompaniments.
- Ensure dishes are prepared to the correct quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Monitor food preparation methods to ensure food is prepared safely and correctly.
2. Kitchen Management
- Supervise and lead the hot kitchen team during prep and service hours.
- Assign tasks to junior chefs and ensure timely completion.
- Conduct training for junior chefs on techniques, safety, and kitchen procedures.
3. Quality Control
- Check the taste, temperature, and portioning of all hot dishes.
- Ensure ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used efficiently.
- Oversee plating and presentation before dishes leave the kitchen.
4. Menu Development
- Contribute to the creation and testing of new hot food menu items.
- Recommend improvements or seasonal changes to existing menu items.
5. Inventory & Cost Control
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies when necessary.
- Control wastage and ensure efficient use of all kitchen resources.
- Assist in maintaining food cost percentages and budgets.
6. Hygiene & Safety
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized hot kitchen area.
- Conduct regular inspections and report any maintenance issues.
7. Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
- Report to Head Chef or Executive Chef on kitchen performance and challenges.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or professional chef training.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in hot kitchen roles.
- Strong knowledge of hot food cooking techniques and equipment.
- Leadership skills and ability to manage a team.
- Time management and ability to work in high-pressure environments.
- Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP/FSSAI).
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
