IMS System Admin

Mandatory Skills:
Job Description: Mandatory skills (please enter all mandatory skills customer will look for) IMS and Db2 System programmer with 13+ years of experience

IMS System Programmer Job description:

- Execution of general scheduled administrative activities - including but not limited to system start-up, shutdown
- Perform problem determination and provide resolution for IMS system software and related products/utilities/tools.
- Prepare and implement policies for DISK Storage set-up, resource (CPU) consumption limit and back-up strategy for IMS subsystem objects.
- Administration and maintenance of IMS systems - including but not limited to run backups, revive corrupt data
- Perform Research & Development and proof-of-concept work for testing the recent and new features of IMS system software related products and report the long-term cost-benefits to the senior management on a continuous basis.

Mandatory skills
- Strong Knowledge in RDBMS concepts
- Experience in IMS software upgrades
- Experience in complete system level backup and recovery
- IMSGEN, SYSGEN
- Knowledge on IBM IMS utilities like Backup, Reorg, Recovery, Load, Unload, pointer checker etc
- Creation of databases/tablespaces/tables/indexes/etc.
- Knowledge in basic IMS or DB2 commands
- Security Management
- Space Management
- Incident/Change/Problem Management
- SQL Performance tuning
- Experience in Monitoring DBA housekeeping jobs, Deadlock/timeout and resolution

Db2 system programmer:
i. Tools and Technologies:
z/OS, SMP/E, SMS, DB2, Sysview, HSM, TMON, OmegaMon, DB2 Admin, DB2Connect, Db2 Fast Load, LOADPLUS fro Db2, QMF, Log analyser

ii. System DBA role as following,
iii. Install new, upgrade, migrate, consolidate and configure database Systems, services, settings, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project or operational requirements.
iv. Maintain installation and configuration procedures.
v. Build new DB2 subsystems
vi. Operational Role as following,
vii. Perform daily System monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all databases, server resources, Systems and key processes, reviewing System and database logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
viii. Support disaster recovery testing.
ix. System level performance tuning like bufferpool, EDM pool, DSNZPARm changes etc..
xi. Maintenance role as following,
xiv. Perform and manage periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
xv. Perform ongoing performance tuning, and resource optimization as required.
xvi. Configure databases memory, and disk, and IO as required.
Application DBA:
xvii. Strong Knowledge on ER Diagram.
xviii. DB2 database design and database alteration and Migration.
xix. DASD/Tape management.
xx. Capacity Planning.
xxi. Experience in Application SQL Performance Tuning..
xxii. Strong Knowledge on DB2 Utilities.
xxiv. Proactive monitoring in space usage and troubleshooting space management.

Job Description: Good-to-have skills - Change and Configuration management through testing and moving updates through various staging environments (ITIL Change and Configuration Mgmt.)
- Problem identification, determination, and resolution for product or usage of the product in conjunction with requestor (ITIL Incident/Problem Mgmt.)
