Job Title: Executive Purchase (Electrical Instrumentation and Automation)
Location: Chennai
Job Summary:
The Executive Purchase (EIA) is responsible for overseeing the procurement of electrical,
instrumentation, and automation equipment and components for the facility. This
includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and
ensuring timely delivery of goods. The executive works closely with engineering,
manufacturing and other departments to support efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Management:
- Identify and source suppliers (local and global) for electrical, instrumentation, and
automation components.
- Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost-effective
procurement.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of purchased goods to meet project
requirements.
- Review contractual conditions and align with vendor to fulfill the consultant
specifications.
2. Supplier Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and
reliability.
- Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns promptly.
3. Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels of EIA components and equipment to ensure adequate
stock for smooth project operations.
- Monitor usage rates and forecast demand to optimize inventory levels and
minimize excess or shortages.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that purchased components and equipment meet required quality
standards and specifications.
- Conduct inspections and assessments of goods upon delivery to verify compliance.
5. Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Manage procurement budgets and strive to achieve cost savings through effective
negotiation and sourcing.
- Analyze procurement data and trends to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
6. Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, regulations, and
industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
7. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and other departments to understand
their procurement needs.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, team members, and management.
8. Market Research and Analysis:
- Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and market conditions
related to EIA components.
- Assess potential new suppliers and products to enhance plant performance and
efficiency.
9. Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Address and resolve any issues related to procurement, such as delivery delays or
quality concerns.
- Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation
Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related
field.
- Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain
management, preferably in an EIA context.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and
automation systems and components.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze procurement data, market trends, and identify
cost-saving opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for
interacting with suppliers and team members.
- Organizational Skills: Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage
procurement activities efficiently.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply
Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are advantageous
