the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award. We partner directly with the
government, industry, and local communities across India to make the most dangerous roads safer.
Road crashes kill over 1.3 million people globally each year. India holds the dubious distinction of being
world number one in road crash deaths, with at least 150,000 fatalities and over one million serious
injuries per year. Most victims come from extremely poor backgrounds. Road crashes have emerged
as the number one cause of death for Indians in the age-group of 15-45, dealing a crushing blow to
the nation’s productivity and a loss of 3% to our GDP each year - an amount that can eradicate hunger
from India, twice over each year. Tragically, road crashes in India are also one of the biggest causes of
death for children under age 14, with over twenty fatalities each day, mostly in the vicinity of schools.
SLF operates at the intersection of policy-making and grassroots impact. We are best known for
getting India a Good Samaritan Law that encourages bystanders to help critically injured persons on
the road, expected to save 50% lives otherwise lost to preventable injuries. Most recently, SLF has
delivered an astounding 52% reduction in fatalities on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, and a reduction
of 69% on in fatalities on the Old Mumbai - Pune Highway (NH-48) through a combination of
measures ranging from improved road engineering to technology-driven traffic enforcement to
optimised trauma response - the Zero Fatality Corridor (ZFC) model.

**Role Overview**:
This role is responsible to improve the safety of highways, with a focus on locations that traverse
through built-up areas. The associate will assist in audits on allotted roads/highways (“Zero Fatality
Corridors”), as per procedures set in place; identify gaps or faults and prepare audit reports. The
Associate would also be responsible for designing, developing concept-level drawings, creating
detailed reports, and communicating the improvements with stakeholders. He/She is required to find
new opportunities to further strengthen the overall audit process and suggest innovative solutions for
overall improvement in road safety. He or she will develop positive working relationships with all of
the stakeholders and report any problems or concerns to the team member immediately. We’re
looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can be available for weekends and holidays if
needed as per requirement.

**Key Responsibilities:
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Document the key recommendations from the on-ground road safety audit team into a

report to be shared with key external stakeholders. Create Road Safety Audit Report with
findings and recommendations for infrastructure improvements, road
engineering/highway engineering solutions, road safety products, traffic calming
measures, etc.
- Prepare various types of presentations in (Slides/PowerPoint) to communicate the key

aspects of the work across the team.
- Develop designs for the improvement of safety taking inputs from various team members

and develop concept-level drawings for communication with stakeholders.
- Provide clear written suggestions to on-ground team based on the report and

presentation feedback on identified gaps in stretch of roads and spots to focus
- Assist in preliminary Audit on identified roads/highways from the perspective of Road

Safety; analyze data and submit the report to concerned stakeholders.
**Secondary** **Responsibilities
- Help in upgrade the various Audit Frameworks and assessment parameters.
- Assist in making plans for conducting Audits on identified Roads.
- Assist in conducting safety audits according to approved Plan following the Audit
- Framework Analyse Audit data to report findings on gaps and development areas- Keep track of road accidents / other significant incidents on identified Corridors Visit
- crash sites at times along with the Crash Investigating team- Identify key stakeholders in PWD, Transport Department, Traffic Police, other
- Government Departments- Engage with key stakeholders along with Reporting Manager to communicate safety
- recommendations that are to be implemented by SaveLIFE Foundation.- Conduct discussions with Ministers / key stakeholders to help get permission to work on
- identified roads- Work with Vendors to learn about new solutions available or install those as approved. Be

associated with relevant technical forums or associations of highway engineers, discuss
out all the new technical research going on in the field of Road engineering,
