**How can you make a difference**?**
The Chief People and Culture, P-5, leads a team of People and Culture (PC) professionals, including international professionals, national professional officers, and general services staff members. He/she is accountable for leading specialized and highly complex People and Culture functions, requiring the capacity to create a platform from which the work of different specialists can be integrated, leading to synergy and coordination. Beyond leading the work of these People and Culture professionals through high level and strategic guidance and advice, the Chief, People and Culture is expected to create and foster an atmosphere in which people are inspired and motivated. In addition, he/she serves as a trusted and credible advisor to the Senior Management on people management and related matters. In doing so, he/she ensures the People and Culture Section’s reputation as a value-added, technically competent, and reliable service provider.
**Purpose of the job**:
Under the general supervision of the India Country Office (ICO) Representative, the Chief, People and Culture is responsible for a fully integrated and regulatory-compliant human resources management service in ICO. As a strategic business partner to the Senior Management, he/she provides strategic advice to the Senior Management, Section Chiefs, and Chiefs of Field Offices on People and Culture planning, talent management and staff development, policy implementation and monitoring, as well as on staff relations and well-being, to ensure that People and Culture and ICO’s Country Programme strategies are aligned to deliver sustainable results for children. He/she provides strategic advice, guidance, and direction to the various components of the People and Culture Section, ensuring a cohesive and integrated People and Culture management approach in support of the realization of Country Programme results.

**To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have**
**_ Minimum requirements:_**
- An Advanced University Degree in human resource management, business management, international relations, psychology, or another related field is required.
- A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible professional experience in human resource management in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.
**Language Requirements**:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered as an asset.

- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
- Demonstrated flexibility and agility to achieve organizational objectives.
- Skills to empower others to translate vision into results.
- Ability to deliver innovative HR programs within a fast paced, evolving, and wide organizational setting.
- Good understanding about UN/UNICEF HR policies, rules and regulations is an asset.
