Job Description Job Description: Reporting to the COO, the VP Mining will be part of the technical management team, working on a cooperative basis with the EVP Exploration and the VP Projects, and the Operations, Projects, and Business Development teams providing mining technical leadership and knowledge to the company in the following areas: •Support the company’s mining operations through technical assistance, mentoring, technical leadership •Support the company’s executive management with mining expertise To identify Contractors to erect & run a Crusher plant. •Participate in multi-disciplinary teams on various projects •Assessment, due diligence and technical auditing/review of mines and projects supporting the company’s growth strategy through acquisitions and internal projects •Financial modeling and analysis to support tradeoff studies, value engineering decisions, acquisitions and valuations •Definition and management of preliminary economic assessment, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies •Open pit and underground mine design and optimization •Mineral reserve estimation •Estimation of the mining portion of project capital and operating costs •Assist with and contribute to corporate development, strategy and reporting needs Qualifications/Experience: •University degree in Mining Engineering with strong financial skills and understanding •Strong and varied experience (large to small company and consulting) with +15 years in the industry, preferably including head office and operational roles, with significant exposure to gold sector •Must be dynamic, self-motivated and demonstrate a determination to excel and commitment to action and be able to transfer these attributes to company’s business activities •Strong analytical and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to write reports and interact with peers and executive management •Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills •Understand mine site technical and operational management needs and challenges •Understand and can perform natural resource company valuations, including cashflow models, and comparative analyses •Sound understanding of mine design processes, software, and tradeoff studies •Capacity to perform mine design work, and direct and guide others •Experience with feasibility studies, project development and project start-up experience •Experience with both owner-operated and contracted mining services an asset •Able to show success in meeting objectives and budgets •Equally comfortable in the boardroom and at the mine site •Entrepreneurial, flexible and creative •English required
