About Trickle Up India Foundation (TUIF)

Trickle Up India Foundation (TUIF) is a nationally registered non-profit organization that partners with women in ultra-poverty in India to build economic opportunity and drive inclusion. Together with governments and local non-governmental organizations, we reach underserved women in remote, rural areas with programming that enables them to forge their own resilient pathways out of poverty for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Since 3, TUIF has been empowering women in ultra-poverty who have faced discrimination, and social and economic isolation all their lives. Through our programs, they develop sustainable livelihoods and strong savings habits, strengthening their capacity, self-reliance, and stability. They begin building their self-esteem and resilience. This profound individual transformation has positive ripple effects for their families, throughout their communities, and over generations.

Project Background

BRAC’s Ultra-Poor Graduation Initiative (UPGI), an initiative of BRAC International, aims to support governments to scale the Graduation approach to reduce extreme poverty. The Graduation approach is a multifaceted set of interventions designed to enable the people living in extreme poverty to “graduate” out of poverty. The interventions include meeting their basic needs, a significant productive asset and training to use it for income generation, financial literacy and savings support, and regular household coaching to support aspirations and productivity. BRAC has signed an MoU with DAY-NRLM under the Ministry of Rural Development, GoI, to support the implementation of an inclusive livelihoods programme for households living in extreme poverty.

The proposed program will introduce holistic productive inclusion strategies to improve the lives of excluded populations, targeting women living in extreme poverty and exclusion. It will adapt a globally tested and proven “graduation approach” to the DAY-NRLM program to reach those households that are presently having difficulty benefiting from the Self-Help Group net.

Trickle Up is one of the Consortium Partners to provide technical assistance to BRAC UPGI on Coaching and Capacity Building. The Senior Technical Specialist will represent Trickle Up to strengthen BRAC UPGI’s technical support repository on Coaching & Capacity Building and facilitate the capacity building processes at national and state levels.

About the Role

This role will span multiple states in India, involving close collaboration with the UPGI team, the National Rural Livelihood Mission, and various State Rural Livelihood Missions nationwide. The position will report to the Program Director at Trickle Up and will work closely with BRAC’s Country Lead and operate under the guidance of the India Program Coordinator, BRAC. The key roles and responsibilities include:

Spearhead the D evelopment of the Standard Operating Procedure (S O P) for Coaching & C apacity Building (%)

This role involves guiding consultative workshops and collaborative sessions with various stakeholders to draft a comprehensive SOP for Coaching and Capacity Building for Inclusive livelihood Program, defining roles, session structures, techniques, and tools for effective implementation, ensuring alignment with program objectives and best practices in coaching and capacity building.

The role will lead consultative workshops and collaborative sessions to gather insights and foster consensus on the SOP's key components, ensuring all perspectives are heard and decisions are well-documented. Engage stakeholders for feedback, refine the SOP accordingly, and document the development process for dissemination. Develop national frameworks for coaching and capacity building in consultation with the BRAC team and project partners

Development of Learning Materials (%)

Facilitating Consultative Discussion & Dialogues :
Lead interactive discussions and dialogues with BRAC to develop comprehensive training modules, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered. Guide discussions to identify key learning objectives, methodologies, and content.

Development of Training Modules: Lead in developing three modules on coaching and capacity building to address coaching needs and emphasize coaching techniques for coaches, project participants, community based organizations and project staff, incorporating interactive methods and practical exercises.

Coaching Materials :Lead in developing engaging materials like curriculum and classroom training aids, emphasizing skill-building and best practices, utilizing participatory approaches for effective learning retention.

3. Certification of Coaches (%)

·Lead in defining business standards of the coaches for certification in consultation with BRAC

·Lead in development of mechanisms to track the performance of the coaches in consultation with BRAC

·In coordination with BRAC, identify Academic Institution to provide certification to the coaches based on their performance

·Lead in designing & developing the curriculum for the coaches in consultation with the Academic Institution

4. Provide assistance in enhancing the capacity of the partner organizations and project staffs (%)

·Facilitate three national level orientation write shops engaging State PMUs and SRLMs for participatory learning from different states, aimed at drafting, modifying, and customizing the training resource materials of the project participants, coaches, community-based organizations & project staffs according to state specific requirements

·Lead the team in developing the capacity of State Resource Persons nominated from the 5 State PMUs for the State Resource Team

·Lead in imparting quarterly training sessions of State Resource Persons nominated from 5 State PMUs for the State Resource Team

·Facilitating the State-PMUs to develop the coaches as mentors to the households

·Offer ongoing support and guidance to ensure seamless integration of coaching into program activities.

5. Providing Management support and leading the initiatives. (%)

·Providing management support to the Technical Assistance Unit in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of deliverables.

·Leading all the activities related to the Program and also leading the team

·Networking with NRLM officials and reporting to them on regular basis

·Maintaining relationship with the SRLMs and providing them leading and management support if requires

·Maintaining relationships and networking with the BRAC officials

·Maintaining bridge between NRLM, BRAC and Trickle Up.

Qualifications & Experience

·Master’s in social work/Rural Development Management/Sustainable Development Management/Sociology or Masters in equivalent stream

·A seasoned capacity-building and training module development expert with over 7 years of experience in crafting comprehensive training modules around livelihoods.

·Preferred experience includes involvement in Graduation programs and familiarity with the National and State Rural Livelihoods Missions.

·High level of speaking and writing competency in English and Hindi.

·Experience of working with rural grassroots communities, especially for capacity-building, social protection, and rural development.

·Experience in applying strong interpersonal skills to support teams in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and multicultural environment.

·Demonstrated ability to support team members with competing priorities, showing strong time and task management capacity.

·Additional work streams can be incorporated as needed to address emerging requirements and enhance the program's effectiveness. These may include but are not limited to, capacity-building initiatives, community engagement strategies, and sustainability planning.

·Prior experience working in teams in a leadership role.

·Experience with training highly desirable.

·Ability to travel frequently within the country.
