Job Summary:
The Leela Palace Hotels is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and develop our HR function, ensuring the highest standards of talent acquisition, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness. As the HR leader, you will play a key role in fostering a culture of luxury service excellence, aligned with The Leela’s brand and operational goals. This role demands a high level of professionalism, discretion, and the ability to inspire and lead a high-performing HR team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic HR Leadership
Develop and implement HR strategies that align with The Leela’s overall business objectives and luxury service standards.
Partner with senior leadership to support a culture of service excellence, engagement, and high performance.
Oversee workforce planning, ensuring that staffing aligns with operational needs and future growth initiatives.
Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and other department heads on HR best practices, policy interpretation, and complex employee relations issues.
2. Talent Acquisition and Development
Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract, hire, and retain top talent across all levels, ensuring each employee aligns with The Leela’s luxury standards.
Oversee onboarding programs to ensure new employees are immersed in The Leela’s culture and values.
Develop and implement learning and development initiatives to enhance the skills of employees and future leaders, supporting career growth and internal promotions.
Collaborate with the Training Manager to ensure all team members meet or exceed brand and service expectations.
3. Employee Engagement and Culture
Champion The Leela’s values, creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment that drives employee engagement.
Conduct employee satisfaction surveys and leverage results to implement programs that improve morale, engagement, and retention.
Develop recognition programs and events to celebrate achievements and foster team cohesion.
4. Performance Management and Compliance
Lead the performance appraisal process, working with managers to set and review goals, identify high-potential employees, and manage underperformance effectively.
Ensure all HR practices comply with local employment laws, health and safety regulations, and hotel industry standards.
Maintain and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and disciplinary procedures in alignment with The Leela’s standards and local legislation.
5. Compensation and Benefits
Oversee the development and management of competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract and retain high-caliber employees.
Conduct benchmarking and regular reviews of compensation structures, ensuring alignment with industry trends and luxury hospitality standards.
Manage employee welfare programs, ensuring that benefits meet employee needs and contribute to the overall employee experience.
6. Data Management and Reporting
Use HR data analytics to make data-driven decisions, monitor key HR metrics, and report insights to the leadership team.
Prepare regular HR reports, including turnover rates, recruitment effectiveness, training impact, and employee satisfaction scores.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or Master’s in HR is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role within luxury hospitality.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in HR systems, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
Attributes: Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and an empathetic approach. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
