Responsibilities of an Electronic Component Symbol and Footprint Creation Engineer:
Symbol and Footprint Design :
Create accurate and reliable schematic symbols and PCB footprints for electronic components based on datasheets and IPC standards.
Verify and validate the created symbols and footprints for design accuracy and manufacturability.
Library Management :
Maintain and organize the component library to ensure accessibility and consistency.
Perform regular audits and updates of the library to remove obsolete components and add new ones.
Standard Compliance :
Adhere to IPC and JEDEC standards for footprint creation and ensure alignment with company-specific guidelines.
Collaboration with Teams :
Work closely with hardware design engineers to meet project-specific requirements.
Provide support during schematic capture and PCB layout stages to resolve any library-related issues.
Quality Assurance :
Conduct thorough checks for symbol-to-footprint mapping and ensure compatibility with electrical and mechanical requirements.
Minimize errors through proper validation processes, reducing risks during production.
Server Setup and Maintenance :
Set up, manage, and maintain the component library server to ensure smooth integration into the design workflow.
Implement version control and backup systems for library data.
Tool Expertise :
Use EDA tools like Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics for library creation and management.
