Job Description:
RF System Architecture Design
Define system specifications in collaboration with system engineers, considering application needs (e.g., 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
Select RF components (amplifiers, mixers, filters) based on system specs (frequency, bandwidth, power, efficiency).
Design signal paths for smooth integration between transmitter, receiver, and antenna systems.
Ensure integration with subsystems like baseband, digital processing, and power supply.
Architecture & Design of RF Subsystems
Design transmitters and receivers, focusing on amplification, filtering, and frequency conversion.
Develop RF front-end subsystems (LNAs, PAs, filters) for high-quality signal transmission.
RF Performance Analysis & Optimization
Perform link budget calculations to ensure desired range and reliability.
Optimize signal integrity, ensuring low BER and minimal interference.
Focus on power efficiency for battery-powered devices.
Simulation & Prototyping
Use tools like MATLAB, Simulink, and ADS for system-level and circuit simulations.
Develop and test prototypes, adjusting designs as needed to meet requirements.
Design for Integration & Miniaturization
Design compact RF modules fitting device constraints (e.g., mobile phones, IoT devices).
Integrate multiple RF functions (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS) into single modules or chips.
For SoC designs, integrate RF functionality directly onto the chip for size, power, and performance optimization.
Noise & Interference Management
Mitigate interference by designing appropriate filters and shielding.
Ensure compliance with EMC standards and minimize noise coupling.
Thermal & Mechanical Design
Manage thermal aspects to prevent overheating of power components.
Design enclosures considering antenna placement and integration with other subsystems.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FCC, CE, ITU).
Prepare for certification testing, including SAR and EMI testing.
Collaboration with Other Engineering Teams
Work with digital, baseband, software, and hardware teams for seamless RF module integration.
Collaborate with test engineers for debugging and tuning based on real-world performance.
Documentation & Reporting
Document RF architecture with detailed designs, specifications, and performance data.
Develop test plans and reports for validation and regulatory compliance.
Tools and Skills
RF Tools : MATLAB, Simulink, ADS, Microwave Office, CST, HFSS.
