Position: MongoDB Administrator
Key Responsibilities:
Database Management: Administer and manage MongoDB clusters, ensuring smooth operation, uptime, and performance.
Monitoring & Optimization: Continuously monitor MongoDB performance (e.g., response times, query performance, etc.) and optimize for high availability, scalability, and resource eDiciency.
Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage database backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data protection and minimal downtime.
Security: Implement and enforce security best practices, including user access control, encryption, and auditing.
Capacity Planning: Plan for and manage database scaling requirements, including storage, processing power, and replication strategies.
Upgrades & Patching: Regularly apply MongoDB updates, patches, and version upgrades to keep the environment secure and up-to-date.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, replication issues, and hardware failures.
Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts for routine database management tasks (e.g., backups, monitoring, alerts).
Collaboration: Work with development and operations teams to design eDicient data models and queries, and troubleshoot application-related database issues.
Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for MongoDB architecture, configurations, operational procedures, and recovery plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience managing and administering MongoDB databases in a production environment.
In-depth knowledge of MongoDB architecture, configuration, and best practices for replication, sharding, and performance tuning.
Experience with MongoDB Atlas (cloud-based MongoDB) or other managed database services is a plus.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, or PowerShell) to automate tasks.
Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify root causes and resolve database performance or operational issues.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as MongoDB Ops Manager, Prometheus, or
similar.
Strong understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies for MongoDB.
Knowledge of database security principles (e.g., user roles, authentication, encryption).
Experience with integration tools and workflows, such as CI/CD, for MongoDB operations.
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems and server management.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
MongoDB Certified DBA or Developer is a plus.
Experience with NoSQL databases beyond MongoDB (e.g., Cassandra, Couchbase) is beneficial.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of related technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Redis, Kafka).
