Key Responsibilities:
• Frontend SEO Implementation:
Optimize website pages, code, and templates (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for SEO, ensuring the technical setup is search engine friendly and aligned with best practices.
• Site Performance Optimization:
Ensure that page load speeds and core web vitals meet Google’s performance standards,
working closely with developers to implement site speed optimizations.
• Content SEO Optimization:
Collaborate with content creators to ensure proper use of on-page SEO elements such as headings, meta descriptions, alt text, and internal linking strategies, tailored for news content.
• Technical SEO Audits:
Conduct regular technical audits of the site to identify and address issues that may aJect SEO performance (e.g., crawl errors, broken links, duplicate content, and mobile optimization).
• Structured Data & Schema Markup:
Implement structured data (Schema.org) to enhance rich snippets for articles, videos, and other content types, ensuring news content is properly indexed and displayed by search engines.
• Mobile Optimization:
Ensure the website is fully responsive and mobile-friendly, improving the mobile user experience and SEO rankings on mobile devices.
• Collaboration with Editorial and Development Teams:
Work closely with content writers, editors, and developers to integrate SEO best practices into daily editorial workflows, content creation, and website updates.
• SEO Reporting & Analytics:
Monitor, track, and report on SEO performance using tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and third-party SEO tools. Provide insights and recommendations based on data to improve performance.
• Staying Current with SEO Trends:
Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, algorithm updates, and best practices, particularly as they relate to news websites and fast-paced content cycles.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven Experience:
3+ years of experience in frontend SEO, digital marketing, or web development, with a focus on SEO for content-heavy websites, particularly news or media sites.
• Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and how these elements impact SEO. Familiarity with code optimization for SEO is a must.
• SEO Tools Proficiency:
Experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar platforms to monitor and improve SEO performance.
• Knowledge of Core Web Vitals & Page Speed Optimization:
In-depth understanding of Core Web Vitals and other performance-related metrics, and
experience implementing improvements to meet SEO best practices.
• Schema Markup Expertise:
Hands-on experience with structured data and schema markup for news content, including articles, videos, and news-specific schemas.
• Content Optimization Skills:
Familiarity with optimizing on-page content, including headlines, metadata, images, and
multimedia for SEO.
• Problem-Solving:
Ability to identify and resolve complex technical SEO issues aJecting site performance and visibility.
• Strong Communication Skills:
Ability to collaborate across teams, clearly communicate technical SEO concepts to nontechnical stakeholders, and drive actionable outcomes.
• Attention to Detail:
A keen eye for detail and ability to analyze large sets of data to find insights and opportunities for SEO improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with News Websites:
Previous experience working on news websites or other time-sensitive content platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS):
Experience with popular CMS platforms (WordPress, Drupal, etc.), particularly with integrating SEO into CMS workflows.
• Knowledge of AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages):
Understanding of AMP implementation and its impact on SEO for news articles is a plus.
• Experience with Local SEO:
Experience optimizing for local search, especially for news outlets that serve geographically specific audiences.
