About the Operational Model

As our product is different from others, so is our business model. All our fresh products are made for the day they are shipped to retail stores. We have zero finished goods inventory, and hence no intermediary stockists or transitory warehouses. This is possible only with the help of an inhouse fleet of vehicles and distribution personnel. Currently a fleet of 500+ dedicated vehicles and crew touch 30,000 retailers daily and replenish 100,000+ Kgs units of the freshest produce.


Job Overview:

The Packaging Technologist will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving packaging solutions for various products within iD’s portfolio & new product development. This role will collaborate closely with the R&D, Production, Marketing, and Procurement teams to ensure packaging designs are efficient, cost-effective, sustainable, and align with brand standards and consumer expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Development:

  • Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for new and existing products.
  • Create detailed and accurate Key Line Drawings (KLDs) for product packaging, including primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging formats.
  • Collaborate with designers to translate conceptual packaging designs into technical KLDs for production.
  • Ensure packaging is suitable for distribution, storage, and displays in various retail environments.
  • Prototype and test different packaging materials and configurations to align with product specifications.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Maintain high standards of packaging quality, ensuring all materials comply with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct regular packaging audits and quality checks in collaboration with the quality team.
  • Test prototypes based on KLDs to confirm fit, durability, and compliance with standards.

Supplier and Material Sourcing:

  • Work with procurement to identify reliable suppliers and negotiate cost-effective deals on packaging materials.
  • Ensure consistency of packaging materials sourced from suppliers, monitoring cost efficiency and quality

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple packaging projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and production, to align on project goals and timelines.

Innovation and Sustainability

  • Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in packaging within the FMCG sector.
  • Benchmark competitors' packaging strategies and identify opportunities for innovation
  • Research new materials, methods, and industry trends to incorporate eco-friendly solutions into packaging designs
  • Propose improvements to KLDs that reduce material use, cost, and environmental impact while maintaining functionality..


Key Requirements:

  • Experience working within regulatory compliance for packaging standards in the FMCG sector.
  • Proficiency in packaging design software (e.g., CAD).
  • Pass out from packaging institutes like Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP),
