Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Government Liaison/Corporate Relations Expert to join our client's team in the Data Center vertical . This role is critical in ensuring smooth interaction between the organization and government agencies, as well as facilitating all corporate relations for the Data Center development projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the regulatory framework, the approval process, and necessary compliance specific to Data Centers.
This role requires expertise in handling the approval processes for data center construction and operation and will focus on building relationships with key stakeholders in government and regulatory bodies to ensure efficient approvals and project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Government Liaison & Approvals Management:
Coordinate and manage all interactions with government authorities, local municipal bodies, and other regulatory bodies related to approvals for data center development.
Oversee and track the process for obtaining necessary approvals, permits, and clearances required for data center construction and operations, including land use, environmental clearances, and security clearances.
Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, and zoning requirements applicable to data centers.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, regulatory bodies, and other public sector stakeholders to ensure timely approvals and smooth project execution.
Corporate Relations & Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the point of contact between the company and external stakeholders, including industry bodies, government agencies, and local municipalities.
Build and maintain positive relationships with key corporate partners, investors, and public sector entities.
Lead and manage the corporate relations strategy for data center projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Represent the organization in industry forums, meetings, and conferences to stay updated on new developments in the data center and real estate sectors.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, regional, and national regulations relevant to data center development and operation.
Provide strategic guidance on any potential risks or challenges related to approvals, permits, or regulatory issues, and work to mitigate these risks.
Stay up to date with changes in policy, legislation, and industry standards impacting data center development.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare regular reports for senior management regarding the status of approvals, regulatory issues, and other pertinent matters related to government relations and corporate affairs.
Ensure all documentation related to government permits and corporate agreements is properly maintained and filed.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience in government liaison, corporate relations, or a similar role within the data center, infrastructure, or real estate sector .
Demonstrated experience working with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and industry-specific compliance for data centers .
Knowledge of the key permits, approvals, and regulatory frameworks specific to data centers in India, including land acquisition, environmental clearance, and security clearances.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Engineering, Real Estate, or related fields .
Additional certifications in public administration, compliance, or legal studies would be a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of the data center development lifecycle and the regulatory approvals required at each stage.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage relations with various stakeholders.
Ability to understand complex regulatory and compliance issues and translate them into actionable strategies.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite , and familiarity with project management tools.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
