Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior MERN Developer to help lead our development efforts and scale our product offerings. The ideal candidate has in-depth experience with the MERN stack, a strong foundation in software architecture, and a passion for building impactful, user-focused applications. This role involves developing scalable, high-quality, and efficient software solutions that align with our mission to transform marine operations through technology.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Development Projects: Design, develop, and deploy new features for our Oceanaut platform using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
System Architecture: Take ownership of architecture decisions, ensuring best practices for scalability, security, and maintainability.
Code Quality: Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code and perform code reviews to maintain high standards.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, UX/UI designers, and other developers to create a seamless user experience.
Problem-solving: Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues, optimizing code and system performance.
Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior developers, fostering growth and enhancing technical expertise within the team.
Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the MERN ecosystem.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency: Deep understanding of JavaScript, ES6+, TypeScript (optional but preferred), and asynchronous programming.
Database Expertise: Strong experience with MongoDB, including schema design, data indexing, and aggregation pipelines.
API Development: Proficient in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with GraphQL is a plus.
UI/UX Collaboration: Solid understanding of frontend design principles and experience working closely with designers.
Testing and Debugging: Skilled in using debugging tools, performance testing, and unit testing frameworks like Jest or Mocha.
Version Control: Experience with Git and collaborative workflows using platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working in an Agile environment.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with Docker and containerization.
Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to mobile development with React Native.
