Role Description
Welspun New Energy Limited (WNEL) is an emerging green energy infrastructure developer, with a strong focus on establishing large scale renewable energy and green hydrogen projects. Job Overview:
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to lead our growth initiatives in the renewable energy market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility/ C&I bidding, financial modelling, and technical understanding of Wind, solar and energy storage systems, and understanding of applicable regulations and guidelines to support the growth of renewable energy vertical within Welspun New Energy.
Key Responsibilities:
1)Business development strategy :
a)Identify and assess new market opportunities for solar, wind, and energy storage projects in utility and C&I segment.
b)Define and execute the GTM for WNEL’s Renewable energy vertical
2)Client Engagement:
a)Understand of end customer (B2G and B2B) requirement in various tenders and to provide the most optimum cost effective techno-commercial solutions.
b)Collaborate with internal teams to prepare the most optimum configuration to meet the requirement in utility scale bid or a C&I client.
3)Bid Advisory:
a)Review and screening of bidding opportunities, participation in pre-bid conferences assessment of processes for State wide policies for land and connectivity acquisition.
b)Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to create attractive bidding strategy to maximize returns for both the external and internal stakeholders
c)Lead end to end process of identifying the right bidding opportunities, making a business case along with financial modelling and insights from historic bidding to prepare a winning proposal.
d)Lead development/ evaluation of term sheets and PPA for commercial and industrial customers
4)Partnership Development:
a)Identify and negotiate strategic alliances with technology providers, land aggregators, contractors, and financing partners to enhance project delivery and market competitiveness.
5)Industry Representation:
a)Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events, showcasing our solutions and building our brand presence.
6)Regulatory Insight:
a)Stay informed and derive key implication of local, state, and national policies affecting renewable energy vertical, and advocate for policies that support market growth.
Qualifications:
a)Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
b)7+ years of experience in business development within the renewable energy sector, specifically in solar, wind, or energy storage.
c)Demonstrated success in winning large-scale utility/ C&I projects, with a portfolio of successfully developed partnerships.
d)Strong technical understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and regulatory environments.
e)Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
f)Proficient in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and project management software.
g)Willingness to travel to meet with clients and attend industry events.
