Job Opportunity: Insurance Development Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious professional to lead the development of our insurance offerings. As an Insurance Development Leader, you will be responsible for driving growth in our parametric insurance vertical.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building sales from scratch, strong industry relationships, and deep knowledge of parametric risk solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the go-to-market strategy for the Parametric Insurance vertical.
  • Bulk up the sales function from prospecting to closure.
  • Pursue new business opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
  • Manage a robust sales pipeline and ensure consistent deal closures.
  • Nurture partnerships with insurers, reinsurance firms, agri-input companies, NBFCs, cooperatives, and government agencies.
  • Identify leads while tailoring sales strategies to parametric product models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams to deliver custom parametric insurance solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, weather and climate risk data, government policy shifts, and competitor offerings.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • Mentor a lean sales team to scale operations.
  • Distribute performance reports, revenue forecasts, and business insights to senior leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Agriculture, Climate Science, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in business development, preferably in parametric or climate-risk insurance, reinsurance, or rural financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and scaling a sales function from 0 to 100.
  • In-depth understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • A willingness to travel extensively, especially to risk-prone or underserved regions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in insurtech, parametric product design, reinsurance, or agri-fintech.
  • Existing relationships with insurers, reinsurers, government bodies, and institutional clients.
  • Familiarity with data platforms (weather, satellite, etc.) and digital insurance infrastructure.
