Assembly Planning Engineer Job Description

Job Overview:

The Assembly Planning Engineer plays a crucial role in the production process, responsible for designing and implementing assembly plans that meet quality, safety, and delivery standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough evaluations of products, processes, and assembly hierarchies to optimize hours per vehicle and cycle time.
  2. Collaborate with design teams to provide input on design for assembly and manufacturing needs during early planning stages.
  3. Develop and implement assembly processes while considering quality, safety, delivery, and ergonomics.
  4. Associate parts, tools, and quality attributes with process definitions.
  5. Conduct preliminary line balance, TAKT time, and cycle time planning.
  6. Design and implement small jigs and fixtures as needed.
  7. Perform time studies using MTM or MOST standards and suggest enhancements or improvements by comparing with earlier product lines.
  8. Project manage with responsibility for delivery, quality, time, and innovation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical background in assembly planning and digital validation.
  • Good hands-on experience and exposure to general assembly processes and problem resolution.
  • Software and system knowledge (e.g., DELMIA V5/Process Simulate/Vismockup/Team center visualization/Human Jack).
  • Experience with time study using MTM & MOST techniques is desirable.
  • Research-oriented approach and idea generation skills to encounter problems.
