Senior Textile Designer

We seek an accomplished Senior Textile Designer to spearhead the creation of innovative carpet collections, mentor junior designers, and drive design vision into products that can be woven with clarity and consistency.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of textiles, exceptional creative leadership skills, and experience in working with AI-powered tools and digital design systems. A strong connection to traditional craftsmanship and a passion for sustainable design are essential.

  • Develop original carpet designs that reflect the brand's creative vision and market trends.
  • Conceptualize and design seasonal collections and special projects.
  • Translate design briefs into production-ready outputs, including graph making, colorways, and yarn selection.
  • Collaborate closely with field teams and regularly visit villages to guide weavers during sampling and prototyping.
  • Provide hands-on mentoring to junior and assistant designers.
  • Evaluate design accuracy and feasibility for hand-knotting, hand-tufting, and other techniques.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Textile Design, Carpet Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in carpet/rug/textile design, preferably in the handmade sector.
  • Strong knowledge of weaving techniques, yarn types, color theory, and graph systems.
  • Familiarity with design tools like Texcelle, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, InDesign, or other AI tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to rural areas for field implementation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with international carpet trends and premium markets.
  • Experience in sustainable or craft-based design projects.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with designers, artisans, and production teams.
