We are seeking an accomplished and experienced Risk Management professional to lead our Wholesale Risk model development team. This strategic role involves overseeing the execution of risk governance and practices around quantitative models.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Management Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Wholesale Rating Models, focusing on best practices in model development and validation.
  • Develop innovative solutions to track regulatory updates and translate them into model design considerations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Communicate effectively with Senior Management and Board-level committees, preparing presentations and reports as required.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the credit lifecycle, ensuring effective collaboration and review of financial spreading logic.

Model Development and Validation:

  • Design and implement end-to-end processes for development, validation, and lifecycle management of Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Develop and validate a range of models, including Corporate/Wholesale Rating Models and Master Rating Scale (MRS) calibration.

Culture and People Management:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of modelers and consultants.
  • Drive capability building and continuous learning within the team through training, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Monitor model performance, outlining goals and metrics based on the model's purpose.
  • Implement monitoring tools to assess model performance continuously, considering input data quality and predictions.
  • Regularly review and improve the model performance process based on feedback and evolving business requirements.

Career Qualifications

  • A strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with hands-on experience in developing and validating Wholesale Rating Models.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python, with expertise in data analysis and visualization using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with fluency in English.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive, multi-discipline risk management experience within banking sector.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply risk management concepts, analysis, and support to strategic decision-making processes.

Desirable Skills

  • Postgraduate or professional qualification in risk management or finance such as CFA, FRM, PRM.
  • Experience of developing teams in a multi-jurisdictional and matrixed organization.
  • Understanding and experience of BCBS frameworks, particularly those relating to risk and capital.
