Key Responsibilities of a Data Manager

The role of a data manager involves leading the end-to-end data lifecycle management process, encompassing acquisition and modeling, cataloging and governance. This requires designing and maintaining complex data models that support aviation operations and analytics.

  • Manage metadata and data catalogue tools to ensure discoverability and lineage tracking.
  • Deliver scalable and secure data products on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Apply foundational data transformation techniques using SQL and Python to prepare data for consumption.

Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure alignment with business goals, champion data quality, integrity, and compliance across systems and processes, and deliver high-value data products in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in data management and governance across all stages of the data lifecycle.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with complex data modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in metadata management and data cataloguing tools.
  • Demonstrated delivery of data products within cloud ecosystems (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a pragmatic approach to value delivery and execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data excellence.
  • Solid business acumen and ability to align data initiatives with strategic objectives.
Domain Expertise (Mandatory)

This role requires:

  • Applied experience with core SAP ERP and MDG systems, particularly in master data governance and enterprise resource planning.
  • Aviation business knowledge, including contextualizing data within the aviation business landscape to drive insights and innovation.
  • Knowledge and experience of commercial aspects of the Aviation industry, specifically customer location profitability, pricing strategies, and its impact on commercial performance.
