Main Responsibilities:

  • Pricing strategy development, carrier negotiations, and strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • End-to-end import shipment handling, including pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and cargo clearance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with sales, documentation, customer service, and finance teams to ensure timely cargo delivery.
  • Ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Developing SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Mentoring the import operations team, allocating resources, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training.
  • Managing departmental costs, preparing regular budgets, and ensuring cost control.
  • Collaborating with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
  • Generating MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
