Senior Security Operations Center Analyst Role Overview

This is a senior-level role for an experienced SOC analyst who will be responsible for designing and implementing effective detection rules, understanding log formats and sources, and coordinating cross-functional teams to mitigate and eradicate threats.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Detection Rule Design and Implementation: Develop relevant and effective detection rules based on organizational risks and threats.
  2. Log Format Understanding and Data Utilization: Understand log formats, sources, and parsing for accurate data utilization in use cases.
  3. SIEM and Analytics Tool Familiarity: Familiarity with SIEM and analytics tools such as Securonix, Sentinel, or Splunk.
  4. Threshold and Logic Definition: Define thresholds, logic, and conditions to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy using Alert Logic.
  5. Use Case Alignment and Intelligence Support: Align use cases with actionable intelligence to support incident response workflows.
  6. KPI/KRI Report Creation and Optimization: Create and optimize KPI/KRI reports to track detection and response performance.
  7. Alert Data Analysis and Use Case Refining: Analyze alert data to refine use cases and adjust logic periodically.
  8. Cross-Functional Team Coordination: Coordinate cross-functional teams to detect and respond to company-wide security incidents.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Triage events, escalations, and incidents to determine remediation and resolution actions.
  • Develop playbooks to improve processes and information sharing across teams.
  • Contribute technical and process improvements within the team.
  • Participate in current operations, including on-call rotation with some after-hours responsibilities and escalations.
