The role of Assistant Payroll Manager involves overseeing the entire payroll process for India, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing, compliance with Indian labor and tax regulations, and payroll-related reporting.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly payroll processing for all employees.
- Validate and reconcile inputs such as attendance, leave records, new joiners, exits, salary revisions, and variable pay.
- Comply fully with statutory requirements, including PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity, and other applicable labor laws.
- Handle employee queries related to salary, taxation, and payroll policies.
- Prepare payroll MIS, reports, and analytics for management review.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Support process automation, audits, and continuous improvement in payroll systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, or HR; MBA/PGDM or CMA/CA is preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience in payroll management, specifically in India.
Tech Skills:
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, including SAP and ADP.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas and reconciliations).
- Knowledge of income tax and statutory compliance.
Behavioural Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
