Customer Data Platform Manager Role

Job Description

A successful Customer Data Platform (CDP) manager develops and executes a strategy to unify customer data from various sources, creating single customer views for personalized marketing and insights.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap for the CDP, aligning with business needs and market trends.
  • Data Management: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and proper governance of customer data within the platform.
  • Integration: Oversee the integration of data from various internal and external sources into the CDP.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, marketing, sales, and other teams to gather requirements and ensure data is used effectively.
  • Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product development process from conception to launch, often using agile methodologies.
  • Data Activation: Ensure the unified customer data is activated and made accessible to other systems, such as marketing automation, for real-time personalization.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review product metrics and model performance to ensure the CDP delivers tangible business value.
  • Stakeholder Management: Gather use cases and needs from various business departments to inform CDP development and optimize its utility.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management, particularly with technical products like data platforms or internal tools. Familiarity with data concepts, APIs, SQL, schemas, and data engineering is also essential. Additionally, excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and engineering are required.
