Leadership Role in Billing Operations

Job Description

As a seasoned billing manager, you will oversee the end-to-end billing cycle with expertise and precision. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure timely and accurate billing, compliance with client requirements, and smooth internal processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management
    • Supervise and mentor a team of 7–8 billing executives, allocating workload and monitoring performance.
    • Conduct regular team meetings, reviews, and provide feedback and support as needed.
  • Billing Operations
    • Oversight of the entire billing cycle, from draft preparation to finalization and dispatch.
    • Evaluate billing against client guidelines, agreed rates, and engagement terms.
    • Monitor timelines and ensure month-end closure within internal deadlines.
  • Stakeholder Coordination
    • Primary point of contact for lawyers and partners based in the office.
    • Liaise with fee-earners to gather billing inputs, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on pending items.
    • Collaborate with finance and collections teams for reconciliation and follow-ups.
  • Quality Control & Compliance
    • Review drafts for accuracy in hours, rates, taxes, and client-specific instructions.
    • Maintain proper documentation, audit trails, and client master data.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify gaps or delays in the billing cycle and implement process optimizations.
    • Support digitization/automation initiatives and adoption of billing tools or ERP systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential Requirements
  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or related field.
  • 6–10 years of billing experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Prior team handling experience is essential.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/Billing tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
