Job Description:

This role is responsible for the conceptualization and development of innovative mechanisms utilized in launch vehicles, encompassing separation and jettisoning systems, satellite deployers, electromechanical actuation systems, and landing and recovery systems. The incumbent will lead all activities from concept to detailed design, manufacturing, qualification testing, and improvements of space mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Conduct initial configuration studies through hand calculations and 1D simulations of sub-systems to verify desired performance and margins">
  • Perform design failure mode and criticality analysis to identify possible failure modes and mitigation strategies">
  • Oversee the creation of high-fidelity parametric 3D CAD models and version control with cross-functional teams">
  • Develop detailed designs of individual components adhering to engineering design principles and design for manufacturability and assembly">
  • Participate in design reviews with a Design Clearance Committee and implement suggested design refinements and modifications">
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders for data exchange and effective communication">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • ">
  • 7 years of experience in the Aerospace or Defense industry">
  • Expertise in designing various types of mechanisms such as linkages, motor and gear drives, cam and follower, lead screw and ball screw, etc.">
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using CREO Parametric and 2D drafting with GD&T">
  • Experience with pneumatic system design is an added advantage">
  • Familiarity with qualification testing such as thermal and vibration testing">
  • Knowledge of multi-body dynamics and structural analysis tools is considered an asset but not required">
