Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned mechanical design professional to join our team as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and developing large fabricated parts, including welded structures, heavy assemblies, and sheet metal components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new concepts and update existing designs for large fabricated parts, including welded structures, heavy assemblies, and sheet metal components.
  • Develop and select concept designs, refining them through the design process.
  • Generate high-quality 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Perform design verification through hand calculations, basic structural analysis using SolidWorks, and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure functional and structural integrity.
  • Perform Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and develop DVP&R.
  • Apply DFM/DFA principles to optimize designs for cost-effective fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change notices (ECNs), and revision histories.
  • Create Manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks in compliance with client's drafting standards, procedures, and tolerancing practices.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers or drafters.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Required qualifications include:

  • B.E in Mechanical/Industrial Production Engineering.
  • 4+ years of professional mechanical design experience with a focus on large fabrications (e.g., structural frames, enclosures, etc).
  • Expert-level proficiency with SolidWorks, on creating Sheetmetal parts, including large assemblies and weldments.
  • Strong knowledge of concept design, detailed design, and design verifications.
  • Proficient in hand calculations for structural elements.
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, DFM/DFA.
  • Solid understanding of fabrication, welding, and machining processes.
  • Experience working with PDM/PLM systems such as Autodesk Vault.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
