Job Overview:

The Girl's Education Program at Room to Read is seeking an experienced Empowerment Specialist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of girls in India by promoting education and gender equality.

As an Empowerment Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing the Girls' Education program at the field level, working closely with schools, communities, and families to ensure the program's success.

Key Responsibilities:Program Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of Room to Read's Girls' Education program design, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Implement program activities as per design, maintaining fidelity and quality.
  • Participate in program planning, working closely with the Program Associate and other state-level staff.
  • Regularly attend weekly and monthly workshops to review and plan program activities.
Family and Community Engagement:
  • Organize and lead family and community meetings, consultations with school staff, parents, and community members to discuss life skill content and issues.
  • Seek opportunities for networking at the local level, creating a resource pool for referrals and support.
  • Facilitate visits of donors, INCO, and SO team members, ensuring a smooth and effective experience.
Working with Girls:
  • Conduct life skills sessions for 80 girls, developing a thorough understanding of the content and skills required to deliver it effectively.
  • Form life skills clubs and facilitate regular meetings, ensuring girls develop skills in articulation, self-expression, and initiating action on issues they face.
Record Keeping, Reporting, and Monitoring:
  • Update records of attendance and parent meetings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and submit weekly plans during weekly reviews, highlighting program progress and challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in education or development, preferably in the Girls' Education sector.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Counseling diploma or experience in mentoring and counseling.
  • Experience working on life skills, gender, and adolescents.
  • Strong planning and project implementation skills.
