Database Expert Job

We are looking for a seasoned database expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience running large-scale databases in cloud infrastructure environments.

The database expert will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure. This includes analyzing solutions and implementing best practices for supported datastores, developing and enforcing best practices for database security, backup, and recovery, and working with peers to roll out changes to our production environment.

The database expert must also work closely with application teams to ship solutions that integrate seamlessly with our database systems. Additionally, the candidate should provide database expertise to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure.
  • Analyze solutions and implement best practices for supported datastores.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.
  • Work on the observability of relevant database metrics.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams.
  • Work with peers to roll out changes to our production environment.
Requirements:
  • At least 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large Environments.
  • Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • Knowledge of the internals of MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of load balancing solutions such as ProxySQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
