Job Title: Senior Cassandra Database Specialist

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, designing and managing our databases.

As a senior database administrator, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, and scaling our most critical data storage platforms.

You will build, maintain, and scale production services and server farms across multiple global data centers and public cloud providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other team members to manage both production SQL-based and Cassandra/NoSQL databases.
  • Manage mission-critical high transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of both traditional SQL databases (MySQL/Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB).
  • Install, configure, and upgrade nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
  • Manage an international 24x7, multi-site production infrastructure powering the company services, including deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security.
  • Ensure proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment.
  • Contribute to the evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB) required.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona) required.
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred.
  • Experience automating management of systems & database using common scripting languages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms.
