Senior Engineering Manager

This is a key role within our project delivery team, working under the supervision of a senior or project engineer to carry out specific functions.

• Prepare feasibility study reports in accordance with agreed formats and review them with the head of structures.
• Collaborate with the project team to assemble design specifications compliant with employer requirements, agree on format and content, and monitor their preparation to ensure timely delivery.
• Acknowledge and oversee the scope of works with the local head of structures.
• Clearly define building requirements and purposes with the local head of structures and the project team to facilitate detailed design.
• Conduct detailed design adhering to WSP standards, ensuring CDM, QA, and technical reviews, and sign off by the local head of structures, including complex calculations and coordination issues.
• Review and monitor calculation production, including QA, technical reviews, and sign off.
• Ensure information for project costing preparation is completed in detail and on time, keeping the project team informed about design progress through explanation of design decisions.
• Provide documentary information via the project team to assist in tender document preparation, ensuring requisite detail and timely completion, and keep the project team informed regarding design progress through explanation of design decisions.
• Coordinate project contract documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
• Address day-to-day queries from the project team, ensuring relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
• Report any variance between constructed works and design intent to the project team in association with the local head of structures.
• Project manage commissions from the project team, utilizing applicable project management tools.
• Lead the design process, encouraging the team to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions according to the agreed program.
• Comply fully with document control, archiving CDM, and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately, coaching junior staff in their usage.

• Raise the level of technical competence within the teams.
• Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
• Promote technical excellence in all our projects.
• Undertake technical reviews and contribute to concept design.
• Provide continuous feedback to the local head of iCRC on the effectiveness of protocols and processes with a view to continuous improvement.
• Develop positive professional relationships with the project team, communicating openly about project progress.
• Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in the company.
• Identify and act upon potential risk issues, following commercial and contracting company processes.
• Manage delegated tasks to ensure deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to the team leader.
• Identify and flag additional fees/scopes agreed to the local head of structures.
• Complete timesheets accurately ahead of weekly deadlines.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Proven experience in designing building structures with significant experience in a similar role or good track record.
• Good presentation skills required.
• Must be fully conversant with technical structural software, such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, and SAFE.
• A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project is essential.
• Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
