Data Governance Specialist

Envestnet is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Data Governance Lead to manage the development and execution of enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. This role will sit within the Data Privacy team and ensure that data is managed as a strategic asset, supporting privacy compliance, data quality, and ethical data use.

The ideal candidate for this role has a blend of data governance, data privacy, and compliance experiences. They will contribute to the development of an enterprise-wide data governance framework and partner with business and technology leaders to shape and advance the strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and Enforce Data Ownership & Stewardship
    • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for data owners and stewards across business units.
    • Facilitate cross-functional stewardship programs and councils to ensure accountability for authoritative data sources.
  • Drive Data Quality & Integrity Initiatives
    • Develop and implement data quality standards and validation rules.
    • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to remediate data issues.
  • Contribute to Data Classification & Protection Efforts
    • Direct the classification of data assets based on sensitivity and regulatory impact.
    • Partner with Privacy, Security, and Legal teams to ensure appropriate controls are applied to sensitive data.

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in data governance, privacy, or compliance.
    • Proficient in executing against well-defined procedures and processes.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, or IT audit.
    • Basic knowledge of industry leading data governance principles and technologies.
