Job Title: Financial Governance Specialist

About the Role:

The Financial Governance Specialist will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the organization.

This involves assessing the adequacy of internal controls, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.

Audit Execution: The Financial Governance Specialist will execute robust financial audits engagements and testing and monitoring activities in line with the annual audit program.

Control Evaluation: Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls and identifying deficiencies or weaknesses in processes, systems, or practices is a key responsibility of this role.

Audit Planning: Preparing audit engagement plans tailored to the specific risks and objectives of each audit engagement is crucial for success.

Reporting & Communication: Documenting audit findings, observations, and recommendations in clear and concise reports for presentation to management and stakeholders is an essential part of this job.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with management to implement corrective actions and improvements based on audit recommendations is critical.

Follow-up & Resolution: Monitoring and tracking the status of audit findings and management responses to ensure timely resolution and closure is another key task.

Team Support & Guidance: Providing support and guidance to colleagues within the team and across the organization on risk management and control-related matters is also a responsibility.

Requirements:
  • Qualification: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. Studying towards professional qualifications (IIA CIA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalents) will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: Twelve months plus of progressive Internal Audit Experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of internal audit, internal control concepts, risk management principles, and audit methodologies.
  • Communication Skill: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate audit findings and recommendations clearly and persuasively.
  • Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in audit software, data analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional Integrity: Commitment to upholding professional standards of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with various stakeholders to identify and address risks, improve internal controls, and enhance governance processes.

You will be working closely with the audit team to develop and implement audit plans, conduct audits, and provide recommendations for improvement.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for this role, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management principles and internal control concepts, as well as experience with audit software and data analytics tools.
