Job Title: Research and Development Engineer II

About the Role

This position involves working on novel process technology concepts, developing material balances, and utilizing commercial process simulation software to evaluate and optimize design ideas.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals, including fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, and reaction engineering. Experience in process engineering, particularly with flowsheeting software, is also crucial.

In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively across multiple functional departments.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Material Balances: Create detailed material balances for new process technology concepts based on preliminary yield and performance estimates.
  • Evaluate and Optimize Design Concepts: Utilize commercial process simulation software to establish the basis for the evaluation and optimization of design concepts.
  • Preliminary Sizing and Costing: Apply engineering design practices and standards to perform preliminary sizing and costing of major equipment.
  • Interface with Specialists: Interface with engineering specialists and vendors to generate preliminary designs and cost estimates of specialized equipment.
  • Techno-economic Analysis: Perform techno-economic analyses of process concepts including the assessment of key parameters impacting process profitability and provide guidance to development project teams.
  • Basic Engineering Design Packages: Generate basic engineering design packages to facilitate the transfer of new technology from research and development to engineering production.
  • Novel Design Concepts: Identify novel design concepts and author invention disclosures to contribute to the innovation effort.
Requirements
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree (B.Tech./B.E.) in Chemical Engineering from a recognized Institute.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Technology, Engineering, Research & Development, or Technical Service role within refining, petrochemical, or gas processing industries.
  • Interest: Strong interest in development work.
