BMS Hardware Architect

Job Description

You will be an architect in designing and developing a Building Management System (BMS) hardware system for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) domain.

The ideal candidate will have exposure to state-of-the-art design principles, layout considerations, compliance requirements, and Electromagnetic Interference/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI-EMC) aspects.

As a BMS hardware architect, you will own the responsibility of delivering high-quality modules/systems on-time and work closely with cross-functional teams to provide solutions to complex use cases on a day-to-day basis.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Design Responsibilities: Design and develop BMS hardware systems for BESS domains
  • Power Electronics Concepts: Develop power electronics concepts for BMS
  • Circuit Designs: Architect digital and analog circuit designs, including ADCs, DACs, OP Amps, micro-processors, micro-controllers, and DSPs
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for Li-ion batteries, including UL9540/UL1973/IEC62619/IEC 60730
  • PCB Layout Constraints: Understand PCB layout constraints and design analog front-end circuits for Li-ion batteries
  • Simulation Tools: Experience with simulation tools, such as P-Spice, Matlab, and Mathcad
  • Reliability Analysis: FMEA and Root Cause Analysis
  • Sensing Technologies: Working with various sensing technologies, hardware peripherals, and communication circuit design
  • Power Supply Design: Power supply design and MOSFET driving
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of safety regulatory standards like IEC61508, ISO26262 when building HW designs
  • Electrical Components: Contactors and relays
  • Safety-Critical Features: Working knowledge of safety-critical features like charge control, thermal control, fault detection, and diagnostics for battery and energy products
