Database Expert Wanted

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to oversee the performance, availability, and security of our databases across MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS-managed services.

  • Maintain, monitor, and tune production and staging MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement strategies for high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain efficient database architectures that meet business needs.
AWS Database Expertise
  • Administer RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Monitor database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools to identify areas for improvement.
Collaboration & Mentoring
  • Provide guidance and support to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments to ensure best practices are followed.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with junior team members to help them develop their skills and become proficient in database administration.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in database administration, including at least 5 years with MSSQL Server (SQL Agent, SSIS, performance tuning) and 5 years with PostgreSQL (query optimization, extensions, logical replication).
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS database services: RDS, Aurora, S3, and IAM integration.
  • Solid understanding of SQL query optimization, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries.
  • Proven track record of managing production-grade environments with strict uptime SLAs.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
