Job Title: Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Overview:

The role of the Senior Oracle Database Administrator is to design, deploy, and manage Oracle databases on premises and in AWS RDS, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Oracle database solutions for hybrid cloud environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement database solutions aligned with business requirements
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Python, Bash, Ansible, PowerShell, and Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of a hybrid cloud database environment
  • Migrate on-premises databases to AWS using DMS, DMS CDC, and custom CDC scripts
  • Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and security of a hybrid cloud database environment
  • Support production environments with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Implement cost optimization strategies and ensure efficient utilization of database resources
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching activities with minimal downtime and risk
  • Implement and manage database backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Continuously improve database infrastructure and architecture to support evolving business needs and best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Proven working experience as a SQL Server/Oracle Database Administrator, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle and Oracle RAC
  • Solid understanding of Oracle performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with database security principles and best practices, including encryption, access controls, and compliance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues in hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Knowledge of AWS services, particularly AWS RDS and related cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform for automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and management
  • Knowledge of Python, Bash, Ansible, and PowerShell scripting for automation, orchestration, and integration tasks
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Database - Specialty are a plus
