Lead a high-performing team of well engineers in the design, planning, and execution support of Coal Bed Methane (CBM) wells. This role requires expertise in leading technical projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Well Design and Planning:
    • Develop detailed well designs aligned with reservoir and geo-mechanical models.
    • Prioritize location selection for CBM wells considering geological data.
    • Create contingency plans for unexpected issues during drilling operations.
    • Evaluate and optimize completion strategies for CBM production.
  • Engineering and Cost Management:
    • Generate accurate budget forecasts for drilling and completion activities.
    • Select suitable equipment and materials from vendors after careful evaluation.
    • Stay up-to-date with new technologies applicable to CBM operations.
    • Maintain open communication with contractors to improve service delivery.
  • Operational Support:
    • Provide real-time guidance to drilling teams on cementing and completions procedures.
    • Analyze post-well reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with subsurface experts to optimize well placement and zonal isolation.
    • Coordinate with various teams including HSE, land access, and surface facilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all well designs adhere to relevant regulations such as DGH, OISD, MoEF.
    • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for permits and approvals.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Mentor junior staff members in well engineering and project management.
    • Foster strong relationships with external partners and consultants.

This position requires a degree in Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and over 10 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations, specifically in CBM operations. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in designing and engineering low-pressure, unconventional gas wells.
