Job Title: Cost Engineer for Electronic Components

 

  • This role focuses on analyzing commercial and technical data of electronic components, PCB gerbers, and assemblies to generate and support various cost-out, resiliency, and NPI projects. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute category-wise strategies.
  • The primary responsibility includes improving engineering data for electronics components, contributing to data libraries development, and reducing new product development times by suggesting cost-effective and technically compatible products from strategic suppliers.
  • Key tasks involve analyzing spend data to identify gaps for cost-out in different electronic components and PCBAs, building strategies to drive enterprise-wide cost-out and resiliency projects, and enhancing engineering data for the electronics category.
  • Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to supplier consolidation, key data improvement, and part proliferation avoidance, demonstrating application of basic engineering tools and principles through component selection, PCB fabrication knowledge, and preliminary validation.
  • The candidate will also confer with manufacturing, product teams, and suppliers to resolve design for manufacturing, testing, and assembly issues, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and engage suppliers to generate new ideas and solutions.
Requirements
  • Relevant academic qualifications include a diploma or bachelor's/masters in Electronics/E&TC.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of relevant work experience is required.

 

Skills and Qualifications
  • Understanding of PCB fabrication, gerbers, electronic component specifications, lifecycles, and industry standards.
  • Awareness of applicable standards and environmental compliances (IEC/UL/ISO/RoHS/REACH etc.).
  • Sound knowledge of spend data analysis and strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in PCB layout, fabrication, gerbers, understanding of electronic component specifications, lifecycles, and industry standards, along with hands-on expertise in PCB CAD tools like Altium, CAM350, and other leading tools in the market.
  • Strong knowledge in finding out gaps for electronic cost-out on products and knowledge on design, testing, and validation of various hardware products.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with global cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, and good interpersonal skills.
