Proposal Engineer Job Description

This position involves reviewing technical documents and leading core teams to create responses to requests for quotations (RFQs) from current and potential customers.

  • Evaluate project bidding processes, including offers, system architectures, bills of materials, designs, calculations, and commercial proposals.
  • Organize bid initiation and review meetings to ensure timely clarification of bid submissions.
  • Lead core teams to assess customer requirements and produce RFQ responses.
  • Conduct site visits as necessary to gather information and address utility/facility constraints.
  • Prioritize Commercial and Technical meetings with prospective clients.
  • Maintain daily and weekly project sales meetings to track progress and prepare reports on the status of each project.
  • Coordinate project management tasks, including material sourcing, vendor selection, subcontractor coordination, and staff allocation.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic electrical and control knowledge, with experience in estimating Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Human Machine Interface (HMI), Motor Control Centers (MCC), Power Conditioning Center (PCC), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Automatic Phase Correctors (APFC), and other control panels.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and select switchgear according to motor load lists, with knowledge of current load calculations and bus bar selections.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and preparation of General Arrangements (GA) in Microsoft Excel.
  • A team player with strong communication, analytical, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Engineering Technology or Instrumentation.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
