Database Expert Role

We are seeking a seasoned Database Expert to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our database infrastructure.

About the Job
  • Ensure the smooth operation of our databases, guaranteeing data integrity and security.
  • Collaborate with application teams to integrate solutions seamlessly with our database systems.
  • Analyze and implement best practices for supported datastores (Primarily MySQL , PostgreSQL).
  • Develop and enforce guidelines for database security, backup, and recovery.
  • Monitor database metrics and work towards achieving set objectives.
  • Provide expert advice to engineering teams on database-related matters.
  • Work with peers (DevOps, Application Engineers) to deploy changes to production environments and troubleshoot incidents.
  • Automate database infrastructure and create self-service tools for engineering success.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and support production issues across services and levels of the stack.
Requirements
  • At least 4-8 years of experience managing large-scale MySQL/PostgreSQL databases.
  • Awareness of cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL/PostgreSQL internals.
  • Familiarity with load balancing solutions like ProxySQL.
  • Understanding of tools for monitoring database performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Knowledge of caching mechanisms (Redis / Elasticache)
  • Scripting language proficiency (Python)
  • Infrastructure automation expertise (Terraform/Ansible)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
