Lead Credit Strategist

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Credit Strategist to spearhead the development and execution of our credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management functions.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of supply chain financing solutions for SMEs and MSMEs, with expertise in credit policies, frameworks, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor credit strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring risk management standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the credit appraisal and underwriting function, including assessment of borrower risk, financial due diligence, and creditworthiness evaluation.
  • Oversee portfolio quality, delinquency management, and design early warning mechanisms to mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate closely with business, risk, and operations teams to balance growth objectives with prudent credit practices.
  • Present credit proposals and portfolio performance updates to senior management and regulators as required.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing credit team capable of handling scale.
  • Stay updated with industry, regulatory, and market trends impacting SME/MSME lending.

Requirements:

  • 8–15 years of experience in credit risk/underwriting, preferably with NBFCs, fintechs, or banks with strong SME/MSME exposure.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain finance, bill discounting, invoice financing, and related credit products.
  • Proven ability to build credit frameworks from scratch and manage large loan books with quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory norms, compliance requirements, and RBI guidelines for NBFCs.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • CA/MBA/FRM or equivalent qualification preferred.
