Job opening for Technical Superintendents - Tankers & Bulk carriers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of daily technical operations to ensure vessel seaworthiness.
  • Prompt tracking and analysis of vessel reports, along with effective closure of defects identified during audits and inspections.
  • Monitoring of PMS compliance and authenticity, proposing database and system improvements as needed.
  • Preparation of annual operating expenditure budgets and control of operating costs including fuel, lubricants, and consumables.
  • Maintenance of validity of all certifications and documentation, liaising with classification societies and flag authorities as necessary.
  • Preparation of vessels for oil major vetting/Rightship inspections and ensuring readiness.
  • Monitoring of speed and consumption performance, implementing efficiency improvements.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company IMS, international regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.) and all flag requirements.
  • Coordination of procurement of spares and critical equipment with cost-effective options.
  • Planning and supervision of dry-docking, repairs, technical projects (upgrades/retrofits and major maintenance), preparation of specifications, budgets, and timelines, and quality control during repairs while maintaining cost control.
  • Providing technical guidance and training to onboard crew members, including new equipment.
  • Conducting periodic physical inspection of vessels for assessment of condition, crew, and IMS.
  • Investigation of incidents and implementation of corrective actions, proposal of improvement in procedures and manuals.
  • Demonstration of strong understanding of TMSA and Right ship requirements and implementation (Tankers & Bulkers respectively).
  • Experience of having worked on cranes and grabs (for bulk carriers)
  • Promotion of a strong safety culture on board and in technical operations.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental protection measures and fuel efficiency initiatives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of experience in the shipping industry on large sea-going vessels with international trading experience and at least 2 years sailing experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Preferably at least 2 years of shore experience as Superintendent.
