Job Description:

As an Agriculture Engineer, you will be working to address water, land & farm sector challenges by applying your knowledge of engineering technology and agriculture science. You will be responsible for conducting site surveys, designing and cost estimation of soil and water conservation measures, formulation, planning, implementation and monitoring of watershed and climate proofing projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting site surveys to identify potential sites for watershed development projects.
  • Designing and cost estimation of soil and water conservation measures.
  • Formulating, planning, implementing and monitoring of watershed and climate proofing projects.
  • Developing detailed project plans in consultation with local communities and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with government agencies, NGOs, and other organizations to obtain necessary approvals and permissions for project implementation.
  • Providing technical assistance and training to local communities and project partners in areas such as soil conservation, water management and crop cultivation.
  • Supervising the construction of various structures required for watershed development, such as check dams, farm ponds and contour trenches.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress of the project and making necessary adjustments to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Collecting and analysing data related to the project, such as soil and water quality, vegetation cover and crop yields.
  • Preparing and maintaining project MIS to track progress and for further review by management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards during project implementation.
  • Participating in outreach activities to promote the project and its objectives to the local community and other stakeholders.

The role requires a strong understanding of agriculture and engineering principles, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. Technical skill sets include community engagement and institutional building, data-driven planning and monitoring, stakeholder and partnership management, resource mobilization and scheme linkages, and livelihood diversification and allied activities.

Behavioral skill sets include being aligned to TATA values, having strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach, self-motivation, result orientation, sensitivity to cultures and diversity, strategic thinking, and decision making.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum qualification of a full-time B.Tech/M.Tech degree in Agriculture/Civil Engineering from a reputed Institute and 3-8 years of relevant work experience.
