Ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced ICU environment as an expert critical care physician.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Takes primary responsibility for all ICU patients, including medical, surgical, trauma, and post-operative cases.
  • Pursues advanced procedures such as intubation, central line placement, arterial line insertion, chest tube insertion, bedside tracheostomy, peritoneal/HD catheter placement, and more.
  • Maintains precise control over ventilators, inotropes, fluid and electrolyte balance, sedation, and nutrition levels.
  • Interprets diagnostic results, revising treatment plans accordingly.
  • Responds promptly to emergencies like cardiac arrest, sepsis, ARDS, stroke, and multi-organ failure.
ICU Protocols & Quality
  • Develops and monitors compliance with ICU protocols, including sepsis bundles, sedation protocols, VAP prevention, early mobility, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains rigorous infection control and antibiotic stewardship practices.
  • Participates in ICU mortality and morbidity meetings and clinical audits.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of care delivery through timely and detailed documentation.
Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Coordinates care with specialists, including surgeons, neurologists, nephrologists, to manage comorbidities.
  • Liaises with nursing staff, physiotherapists, respiratory therapists, and dietitians to provide holistic ICU care.
  • Provides guidance on escalation or de-escalation of care, including DNR/DNI, palliative care decisions.
Training & Education
  • Trains and supervises residents, medical officers, nurses, and paramedics in critical care skills.
  • Delivers bedside teaching, case discussions, and simulations to enhance knowledge and competencies.
Family Communication & Counseling
  • Communicates prognosis and treatment plans empathetically to patient families.
  • Navigates sensitive discussions about outcomes, consent, and end-of-life care with compassion and understanding.
Qualifications
  • Essential qualifications include MBBS + MD/DNB in Anaesthesia / General Medicine / Pulmonary Medicine / Emergency Medicine, DM / DNB Critical Care OR Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM, IFCCM, FNB, etc.), and valid registration with State/National Medical Council.
  • Desirable qualifications include BLS, ACLS, ATLS certification, experience managing Level 2/3 ICUs, and exposure to ECMO, CRRT, or advanced ventilation techniques.
Skills & Competencies
  • Demonstrates advanced critical care knowledge and procedural expertise.
  • Exhibits exceptional judgment under pressure.
  • Displays team leadership and coordination abilities.
  • Possesses clear and empathetic communication skills with both teams and families.
  • Shows aptitude and interest in clinical research and education.
  • Familiarity with ICU software, ventilators, EMRs, and monitors is preferred.
