Senior Backend Systems Architect

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Systems Architect to lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable back-end systems that support our maritime operations platform.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend services with frontend applications, databases, and other core systems. Expertise in backend technologies will be crucial in delivering high-performance solutions that meet the evolving needs of the maritime sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and guide a team of software developers to ensure their effectiveness and productivity.
  • Contribute to designing and developing efficient software architecture.
  • Own the product lifecycle, from conceptualization through development and deployment.
  • Implement Test-Driven Development practices and write comprehensive unit tests for high-quality code.
  • Build reusable, modular code and libraries for efficiency and consistency across projects.
  • Optimize applications for maximum performance, speed, and scalability.
  • Enforce security best practices and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Maintain technical documentation for all systems and processes related to the products you own.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of 5+ years in software development or leadership role.
  • Strong programming foundation in Python, including debugging and performance analysis.
  • Experience in web application development, APIs, and frameworks like Django/Flask.
  • Expertise in secure software development and handling sensitive data.
  • Well-established experience in all phases of development – requirement gathering, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Source Code Repository management with Git.
  • Hands-on experience in DB design & Architecture with focus on performance.
  • Knowledge of caching techniques and utilities like Memcache/Redis.
  • Experience working with web/app servers like Apache/Nginx.
  • Experience in containerization tool Docker.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex problems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
