Job Purpose

As a Thermal Equipment Design Engineer at John Cockerill, you will play a key role in planning and delivering engineering and process development for thermal equipment and systems. Your goal will be to achieve operational excellence and support the growth objectives of the organization.

Key Result Areas

Development and sustenance of engineering equipment, processes, and systems

Meeting targets around Quality, Delivery, and Cost

Innovation mindset to bring in new designs to improve functionality and reduce cost

Key Responsibilities

Qualified candidates will be groomed in the Engineering (Design) Function

Understand contract requirements and develop basic and detailed design for the same

Engineer needs to develop 3D models, related drawings, and other documentation for engineering

Work in a team with group leaders, engineers, and designers within Engineering and other functions

Create and check engineering-related documents as per the Quality Management System (QMS) and Design Approval Matrix

Work with other functions to update documentation in line with engineering requirements

Generating bought-out specifications and approving the offers received from suppliers

Aid manufacturing in case of any design queries

Keep themselves abreast of new technologies and imbibe the same in product design and development

Perform CAD simulation for design optimization

Education and Experience

The candidate should be a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering from a Reputed college

10 to 15 years of experience in engineering design of thermal equipment for heavy engineering/steel processing

Candidate worked in a multinational company will be an added advantage

Background, Skills, and Competencies

AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling

Should have worked in Product Data Management Tools (like Vault)

Basic engineering drawings skill with mechanical and thermal design calculations awareness

Basic metallurgy knowledge (steel composition, heat treatment processes)

Ability to bring innovation in design to improve functionality and reduce cost

Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills

Ability to work in an Agile environment in a collaborative way

CAD simulation knowledge (static and dynamic) - (Nice to have)
